13th Annual Arbor Day Celebration

April 25 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

The Morristown Shade Tree Commission is proud to announce its 13th annual Arbor Day celebration, taking place on Saturday, April 25th at 9:00 AM at Jacob Ford Park basketball court.

This year’s event will feature the planting of two Swamp White Oak trees along the basketball court. These trees will provide much-needed shade for park visitors while contributing to the overall tree canopy, helping improve air quality and environmental health in the community.

In addition to the tree planting, the event will highlight ongoing restoration efforts within Jacob Ford Park. The park’s forest and slope areas have been part of a multi-year restoration project led by the Commission. Now entering its third year, the initiative is moving into an exciting planting phase. Attendees are encouraged to stay after the ceremony to learn more about the significant progress being made in restoring and strengthening the park’s natural landscape.

The Morristown Shade Tree Commission (STC), created in 2013, is responsible for the town’s public trees and shrubs. The STC continues to plant trees throughout Morristown’s right-of-way while also working within the forested areas of local parks. Their efforts include removing invasive vines, restoring native habitats, reforesting, and improving overall tree health.

The Commission meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM in Room 201 at Town Hall. Meetings are open to the public.
