Zufall Health will receive $168,000 as the state expands assistance for residents comparing 2027 coverage and navigating changes in federal financial help.
MORRISTOWN, NJ – New Jersey has awarded $5.171 million to 33 organizations, including $168,000 for Zufall Health, to provide free health insurance enrollment assistance ahead of the Nov. 1 opening of enrollment for 2027 coverage, the Department of Banking and Insurance announced Oct. 14.
The Get Covered New Jersey open enrollment period will run through Jan. 31, 2027. The state’s Navigator program supports help with applications, renewals and financial assistance, both in person and remotely, in more than 10 languages across all 21 counties. This funding round adds five organizations to the network.
Other northern New Jersey recipients include Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, $100,000; Newark’s Department of Health and Community Wellness, $105,000; North Hudson Community Action Corp., $77,000; and the Urban League of Hudson County, $216,000.
For Morris County residents, Zufall offers certified insurance enrollment assistance with marketplace plans and NJ FamilyCare, the state’s Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program. The organization’s Morristown office is at 4 Atno Ave. Its listed telephone number is 973-267-0002.
Residents elsewhere can use the marketplace’s local assistance directory to search by location or organization. Navigators and other certified assisters provide help at no charge. Licensed agents and brokers also assist shoppers; the marketplace explains that they generally are paid by the insurers whose plans they sell and must act in consumers’ best interests.
Federal changes affect assistance
The funding comes as residents face changes in the financial help available for coverage. According to the marketplace’s current guidance, enhanced federal premium tax credits expired Dec. 31, 2025, after Congress did not extend them. Other financial assistance remains available to people who qualify.
Separate federal changes will end eligibility for federal financial help in 2027 for some noncitizens, including people in certain temporary or humanitarian immigration categories. The marketplace lists lawful permanent residents, certain Cuban or Haitian entrants, and eligible migrants under the Compacts of Free Association among the categories that can continue to qualify. It says affected households will receive notices.
The marketplace’s financial assistance page explains that eligibility depends on factors including income and household size. Available assistance can include premium tax credits, reductions in out-of-pocket costs and state New Jersey Health Plan Savings. Eligibility and assistance amounts depend on the household’s circumstances.
Enrollment outside the annual window
Qualifying life events can allow enrollment outside the annual period. Examples include losing job-based coverage or NJ FamilyCare eligibility, marriage, pregnancy, having a baby, adoption and certain moves. People who qualify generally have up to 60 days after the event to enroll or change plans.
Applications for NJ FamilyCare can be submitted throughout the year. Residents can find certified assistance through Get Covered New Jersey or contact its customer call center at 833-677-1010.
