NEW JERSEY — The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission (NJ-CRC)approvedthe state’s first four cannabis consumption area endorsements during its public meeting on July 15, allowing select dispensaries to create designated on-site spaces for legal cannabis use. This marks a key development in New Jersey’s cannabis infrastructure, aimed at expanding access to safe and regulated environments for adult-use and medical cannabis consumers.
The four approved dispensaries areHigh Rollers DispensaryandSunnyTien Dispensaryin Atlantic City,Gynsyngin Merchantville, andURB’N Dispensaryin Newark. Each is certified as a Diversely Owned Business by the New Jersey Department of Treasury, signifying ownership by minorities, women, or disabled veterans.
Cannabis consumption area endorsements permit licensed retailers to designate secure locations where individuals aged 21 and older can consume cannabis products legally on-site. These spaces address concerns among residents who may be restricted from using cannabis at home due to housing rules or shared living environments.

Endorsement applicants were required to obtain prior approval from their respective municipalities and meet the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission’s facility and safety requirements, including proper ventilation and security protocols. Following state-level approval, endorsed dispensaries must complete a final site inspection before the consumption areas can open to the public.
The NJ-CRC emphasized that approved facilities must maintain strict operational standards to remain in compliance with state law, ensuring safety and order at consumption sites.
