Morris County Road Work Closes Lanes on Routes 10, 23, 46, 202, NJ 15 and I-80

Motorists in and around Morristown, Parsippany, Denville, Rockaway, Riverdale and Jefferson should expect daytime lane and shoulder closures tied to construction, with most work scheduled to end by 3 p.m.

Daytime construction is affecting several major Morris County corridors, including Route 46, Route 10, Route 23, Route 202, Route 15 and Interstate 80, according to traffic advisories issued Monday morning.

The most widespread impacts are on Route 46, where multiple eastbound and westbound lane or shoulder closures are in place through Denville, Parsippany-Troy Hills, Mountain Lakes, Rockaway Township and Montville. Most of the Route 46 work is scheduled to continue until 3 p.m., though an eastbound shoulder closure in Parsippany-Troy Hills is listed until 5:30 p.m.

In Morristown, construction on US 202 southbound near NJ 24/CR 510/Washington Street has closed the right shoulder until 2 p.m. That location is near a key local approach to downtown Morristown and could affect drivers traveling through the Washington Street corridor.

Other reported closures include:

NJ 10 eastbound from Franklin Avenue in Denville to South Powder Mill Road in Parsippany-Troy Hills, where the left lane is closed until 3 p.m.

NJ 23 southbound near Cotluss Road in Riverdale, where the left lane is closed until 3 p.m., and NJ 23 northbound from north of I-287 to south of Cotluss Road, where the right lane is closed until 3 p.m.

NJ 15 northbound near NJ 181/Espanong Road/Weldon Road in Jefferson Township, where the left lane is closed until 2 p.m.

I-80 westbound near Exit 34 for NJ 15 in Wharton, where the right shoulder is closed until 3 p.m., and between east of Exit 38 for US 46 in Denville and west of Exit 35 for Mount Hope Avenue in Rockaway Township, where the right shoulder is also closed until 3 p.m.

The construction advisories do not list crashes or emergency closures, but lane reductions and shoulder closures can still slow traffic, especially on Route 46 and near interchanges with I-287 and I-80. Drivers should allow extra travel time, use caution near work zones and watch for changing traffic patterns through the afternoon.
