From Tuesday, June 23, through Tuesday, July 7, local programming includes Revolutionary War history events at the Ford Mansion and Jockey Hollow, MPAC concerts, outdoor markets in Morristown and South Orange, and an early run of Independence Day celebrations spread across Morris and Bergen counties.
Most events are in Morristown, Morris County, or nearby North Jersey communities. Confirm times, costs, and weather cancellations with organizers before you go, especially for anything outdoors.

Reading of the Declaration of Independence

Morristown National Historical Park runs a Declaration reading at the Ford Mansion on Tuesday afternoon in three parts: a welcome and ranger program from noon to 1 p.m., the reading from 1 to 2 p.m., and a Ford Mansion open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Continental soldiers will offer toasts and musketry. Bring a chair or blanket. Parking is first come, first served.
South Orange Downtown Farmers Market

The weekly open-air market in South Orange carries fresh produce, baked goods, cold-pressed juices, cheeses, breads, pickles, specialty foods, and grab-and-go meals. It runs both Wednesday dates in this window.
Montville Township 4th of July Celebration

Hours are 5 to 11 p.m. on June 24 and 25, and 4:30 to 11 p.m. on June 26. Rides, a car show, food trucks, live music, and fireworks programming run across all three nights. The theme nights go Cruising & Groovin’, Rock Revival, and Ladies of Rock. A drone show is set for about 8:45 p.m. on June 24, part of the township’s 50th anniversary of Fourth of July celebrations.
